The 4 Essentials of a Consistent Skincare Regimen
Routines give us something to rely on. But right now, our routines and rituals have been disrupted. What was once consistent is now both monotonous and uncertain. Challenging though it is, this period of social isolation presents an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate the power of routines. Mentally, our routines give us something to look forward to, something constant in a time of uncertainty. And, developed correctly, routines put us on a path toward self care and improvement. One important routine to maintain at this time is your skincare routine.

An effective skincare regimen will only yield results if you consistently do the most important, basic aspects. Your consistent skincare regimen should include four essential principles:
1. Cleanse at the right times
Microscopic dirt and debris accumulate throughout the day, so the most important time to cleanse is in the evening. This ensures you remove impurities, and pave the way for other skincare ingredients to work more effectively. If exercise is part of your daily routine, make sure you cleanse immediately post-workout before applying your serums and SPF.

2. Antioxidants in the AM
After cleansing your skin in the morning, antioxidants calm and cool the skin while providing a layer of protection from free radicals and environmental pollutants.
3. SPF! Rain or Shine and reapply
The importance of sun protection cannot be overstated. Even if you are spending very little time outside. the light through the car windows, blue light from phones, and computer screens can compound into visible skin damage over time. Using a broad spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection keeps UV rays from prematurely damaging and aging your skin.

4. Boost your skin renewal with an effective retinol
Retinol works to increase the turnover of your skin cells. Essentially, this means your skin cells reproduce at a faster rate, which increases collagen production, evens skin texture, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Retinols vary in quality, effectiveness, and tolerability. The chief complaints of most retinoids are dryness, irritation and peeling, which is why we developed an effective retinol including a wide variety of anti inflammatory properties including green tea, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera to reduce those reactions.

The situation we find ourselves in is challenging. With our routines thrown off, it’s difficult to keep occupied. But, now more than ever, it’s pivotal to give ourselves something to look forward to and something to work toward. Beautiful, healthy skin, through small daily steps, can be one light at the end of this tunnel, if we practice consistency. We all now have the opportunity to solidify our routines, improve ourselves, and ultimately come out of this entire situation more beautiful on the other side.
