Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the CR Emulsion and the AFORÉ Retinol Cream?

The CR Emulsion improves the skin faster and more effectively than the Retinol Cream alone. CR Emulsion contains several active ingredients on top of retinol that the AFORÉ Retinol Cream does not contain: Cannabidiol (CBD), Matrixyl, Argirilene, and Hyaluronic Acid. According to a six week study, these ingredients may act additively or synergistically with one another to benefit the skin more than any of the ingredients alone.

Where is the CR Emulsion study published?

The CR Emulsion study is published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. The full study can be found here: Link to CR Emulsion Study

What strength retinol is in the CR Emulsion?

The CR Emulsion contains 0.2% retinol.

Can this be used on all skin types?

Yes, the CR Emulsion is designed with all skin types and skin tones in mind, even the most sensitive skin. In the unlikely event you do experience mild irritation, switch to using the CR Emulsion every other night instead of nightly. If serious irritation or an allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a medical professional.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a component of hemp plants that is relatively new to skincare. Research has demonstrated that CBD has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and free radical damage. The improvements to skin observed in a six week study on the CR Emulsion suggest that CBD may have additive benefits, or even synergistic benefits, with retinol.

Does this product contain THC?

This product does not contain THC above 0.05%. All of the CBD used in the CR Emulsion is independently lab tested for purity, and never exceeds the USA's federally legal concentration of 0.3%.

What is Matrixyl?

This peptide ingredient helps stimulate collagen and elastin production, which both assist in filling wrinkles in the skin, as well as making the skin physically stronger.

What is Argirilene?

This is a peptide also known as acetyl hexapeptide-8. It is used to help restore the skin and bind to water to help reduce outward signs of aging. Please see our full ingredient reference guide for information about our ingredients.

Can I use this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Like any retinol product, is not recommended to use the CR Emulsion while pregnant or breastfeeding. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new skincare regimen while breastfeeding or pregnant.

How long does this product last?

When used according to the product instructions (1-2 pumps nightly), this product should last between 50 and 70 days.

Is this product cruelty-free?

Yes, all AFORÉ products, including the CR Emulsion, are cruelty free and NEVER tested on animals.

Is this product paraben free and sulfate free?

KEY INGREDIENTS

CANNABIDIOL (CBD):Also known as CBD, cannabidiol is a component of hemp and cannabis plants that is new to skincare. Dr. Julius Few and AFORÉ are the first to clinically investigate CBD's effects and safety on skin, in combination with other well-studied skincare ingredients. The CR Emulsion study was the first to demonstrate CBD's potentially synergistic effects with retinol, and how it may also help to reduce retinol's traditional side effects.

0.2% RETINOL:Retinol is a heavily-studied form of vitamin A that is used to increase skin cell turnover and collagen production, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone.

ARGIRELINE:This is a peptide also known as acetyl hexapeptide-8. It is used to help restore the skin and bind to water to help reduce outward signs of aging.

MATRIXYL:This peptide ingredient helps stimulate collagen and elastin production, which both assist in filling in wrinkles in the skin, as well as making the skin physically stronger.

HYALURONIC ACID:Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a humectant that your body produces naturally. HA can hold 1000x its weight in moisture, which makes it an excellent ingredient for hydrating and retaining moisture in the skin.

HOW TO USE

Apply two pumps to the entire face once daily in the evening before bed. Do not use if nursing or pregnant*.

Topical products containing retinol are not recommended for women who are nursing or pregnant.
